"Whether home handyman or commercial contractor, it is an extreme hassle to run a job without a good old tristand chainvise and a pipe threader close at hand. Fubar'd some threads on some 2" conduit? No need to remove the piece, carry it to the equipment trailor and chase the threads or use a threadfile through lunch hour. Just whip out the Northern ratcheting pipe threader and chase those threads.
I live on a remote ranch. While I may at times dream of owning a fine $12,000 Ridgid threader, it isn't cost effective for occasionaly use. This Northern set fits the bill perfectly and no 110VAC required. Seriously, these rascals get expensive; but this was the best combination of price and quality I have found.
For convenience and safety I would also recommend a good tristand with chainvise for those folks who will be using the threader more than a few times. My preference is the Ridgid 460; however this stand is abit pricey. I hope Norther soon offers a comparable item.
