"I read the reviews with Northern Tool, and some Competitors, but Northern was the better overall deal. Others had a lower price with free shipping BUT...........
NO MUFFLER ......which would have meant another order and more money. Engine arrived (UPS) around 2:15 PM and it was mounted and running at 5:00 PM. I did have to tapp two mounting holes on the base (mounting plate for Snapper) but that wasn't any big deal. I did NOT experience the damaged shipping carton that others have mentioned. (maybe B&S have improved the shipping carton) This replaced a 15 HP on a 3 1/2 year old Snapper and seems to be an okay engine, better balance for a smoother operation. (the previous one wasn't) I AM USING THE MOBILE ONE OIL, especially since the last one had such a short life. It would be really nice if this one would last longer than the Mower. I certainly recommend Northern Tool for replacement Briggs and Stratton Engines. Excellent service, Northern Tool !"

It couldn't be easier,

"Right out of the box I installed the engine, filled the crank case oil and gas tank and it started first pull. It couldn't have been easier. I priced around for this engine and the next best price was $120 more for the same thing. The shipping was fast and the engine runs great. I have been using it for a few months now and it still starts first pull."

"I ordered the product on a Friday and received it on the following Tuesday. The condition of the package was perfect, I know a few of the reviews commented on the poor condition of the packaging but, I didn’t have this problem. The product was just as described. The engine fit perfectly in my Craftsman DYT 4000. The only thing I had to modify was a few electrical wires and install the old muffler. Total time to switch out the engine took about 3 hours."

"This was an excellent replacement engine for my Craftman 42 inch mower. I got 7 years of service from the orginal Briggs & Stratton engine and hope to repete that with this new one. It was easy to change out and is working great. The price was also great."

"This Briggs & Stratton Vertical OHV Engine with Electric Start was the best purchased for my John Deere lawn mower. It has plenty of power and it's very reliable. I had to make a few modifications to my application. But in all this is a great product for the price. I have looked at many competitors but the price of the engine was higher than Northern Tool. I honestly feel that I got a great product at a great price. The delivery was very quick."

"I purchased this engine to replace the 17.5 hp tecumseh that came on my 46" Murray lawnmower. Delivery was fast and engine install was easy except for the wiring which required removal and use of a diode off the Tecumseh engine wiring harness.
The engine starts easy and runs quiet. I was amazed to find a quality engine at such a reasonable price. Thanks!"
