"I purchased this Briggs and Stratton Motor to replace a Tecumseh Motor that was on my Troybilt Tiller. This motor bolted on with know problems. It was simple to remove the old motor and bolt on the new one. I have used it for 1 year now and it still starts on the 1st or 2nd pull. It has enough power to till at the maximum depth that you can on a "Horse" model Troybilt tiller.
I would recommend this product to anyone replacing an engine on a Troybilt Tiller."

Briggs,

"Having purchased this briggs engine, I can't believe how easy it is to start. Having many pieces of equipment with gas engines the horsepower delivered by this one is fantastic. There were times that I felt that it delivered more than what it is rated for. If I have another pieces of equipment that I lose an engine on I would definitely replace it with a briggs engine, as long as the piece of equipment is worth it."

"The engine met all my expectations and performs great. The only thing that makes my rating 4 stars intead of five is that the engine was supposed to be shipped full of oil and it was only about half full and there was not any oil shipped with it to add."

Old Log splitter - new life!,
April 22, 2008
"After having my old B&S 5HP engine die out and overhauled the previous year (at about 3/4 the price of this one) it still didn't run reliably.
I found this 6.5HP engine bolted right up in less than 30min and wow!! my old splitter had new life!! Well it's been about 2 yrs with the new engine and it still starts EVERYTIME.!!
My only complaint would be the cheap plastic fuel tanks that are not impervious to mice or squirrles, but hey....it was a fair price compared to Honda's w/ a metal tank.

Happiness is Briggs & Stratton,
April 21, 2008
By Mag00

"I purchased this 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton engine as a replacement for an older 5.0 HP engine supplied by another manufacturer. The original engine had less than 50 hours run time when a broken camshaft sent it to the junk yard. I recieved the new B&S engine from Northern in less than a week.
Installation on my chipper took about 1.5 hours. Once mounted, I filled the crankcase and gas tank and pulled once on the starter rope. I was totally amazed, it started on that first pull. The ignition and induction systems on this OHV engine are the best I've seen in my 40 years of dealing with small engines of this type. After sitting throughout the winter, the spring start up still took only one pull. You couldn't buy this engine from me for 5 times the purchase price.

Nice Engine,
October 15, 2007

"The Briggs 6.5 hp replaced my very old 5hp engine. The motor mounted on my 25 ton log splitter just like putting on a pair of slippers. The total time involved was less than 30 minutes. The engine started in 3 pulls, but since then, it usually start in 1 to 2 attempts. The altiude of 4500 feet where I live has had no effect on starting, which greatly pleased me. the only complaint I have is checking the oil level. My old Briggs had anoil dip stick, and the new motor you must remove a plug to check."

"Purchased as a replacement engine for my wood splitter. It was 1/2 the price of a local one. Bolted right up and started on the first pull. I split 30 cords of wood with it this summer. Excellent price and value."

Restoration of Lawnmower,
October 8, 2007
"During the process of trying to find a suitable replacement motor for an old hi-wheeled mower I wanted to restore, I looked in the Northern online catalog to check what was available. The 6.5 B&S Intek popped up on the sale page. After checking the specs I decided to try it out. It's been over 2 months since I've installed this engine and I can tell you that it really is a workhorse! I have had some different situations with Northern before and every time I have needed any help they have customer service that is second to none. I plan on ordering another small engine soon after checking the latest online update, I found a motor that I was interested in and it's also on sale!"

honda engine,
July 9, 2007
"it fit my log splitter perfectly, has a lot of power and is very easy on gas. I have other splitters that use twice as much gas. this engine will run apx. 3.5 hours on one fill up. Will replace all the engines on my splitters with this engine when the one on it goes bad."
