Keep it going, April 14, 2008
By loggerJoe from Orting, WA

"I ordered the motor it showed up when they said. Installed it on my 22 year old log splitter that I purchased from Nothern in 1986 without modifications, started on the second pull. Have about 60 hrs on motor without any problems. Just to tell you how good Northern 's equipment is my old engine on my 16 ton splitter had approx. 4000 Hrs and it just gave up this year."

Honda Engine, January 24, 2008
By homestead from Templeton, Ca. Cattle Rancher

"I purchased this motor for a log splitter that had a Briggs and Stratton motor. It is close to 30 years old and is a Montgomery Ward splitter. I removed the old motor and the Honda bolted right in. The bolt holes lined up and the shaft height and length were perfect. After putting oil and fuel in, the motor started on the first pull. I split several 3-4' oak logs and it split like butter. I am very impressed with this product and recommend it to anyone looking to replace an older motor. I am so impressed that I have cement mixer that is just might get a new power source soon.
In addition, I ordered this on line and Northern Tool shipped the next day. I received the engine in less than week. I was very pleased with the service and the product."

Good small engine, July 9, 2007
By Woodsplitter2007 from Newtown, CT

"Just add oil and it's ready to go. The shaft is keyed and tapped and there are four bolt holes in the cover to bolt on what ever accessory your going to be using with it. I used my to replace a B&S where a small foot print was necessary."

"I have been using this engine for two years and it runs perfect. Switching between my log splitter and tiller. Works perfectly for both. Splits four foot sticks cord after cord and never even stutters. Tills a very large garden and just runs and runs without ever hesitating. Starts without fail on the first or second pull, even after sitting all winter.
Going to buy another so I don't have to keep switching."

Whatta motor, November 27, 2006
By MarkS from Wake Forest, NC

"I've been planning on buying this motor for an old bicycle wheel mower that's been in the family for a long time. When it finally went on sale last month, I could no longer restrain myself. Dig into the piggy bank.

The installation went without difficulty, although I did have to return to the store to purchase a $10 pulley and $.42 square key to hold it. Other than that, add oil, gas, and pull the cord. This thing is so disgustingly easy to start I have to learn to pull lightly on the starter cord.

Oh, and while on the subject of light! When we first got box down off the shelf, the sales guy wanted to open the box to make sure it had a motor in it. It's that light. Probably half the weight of the previous motor.

Mowing the lawn is now a lot easier and after I get the frame painted, I will revel in showing my father the mower he bought over 40 years ago. This will be it's 5th, and probably (if it lasts as long as I think it will) last motor. Whatta motor!!"
