Pump for rainbarrels,
July 20, 2009
"I ordered this pump to use with my rainbarrels. It works perfectly for this job. I had to simply added a 115 volt pigtail to the three leads as it is actually meant to be hard wired. With this pump, I am able to pump water uphill to my garden over 100' away with a rise of 20'. The pressure maintained is exactly the same as the flow from my home water supply. And since it is a demand pump, when not in use, it is not running. Plus if my barrels run dry, the pump will not be damaged. I strongly recommend this pump."

Great pump, hope to have it back from repair soon,

"The Shurflo Industrial Pump worked far better than my first attempt with another make of pump. I used it every day to draw off excess water from an underground spring under my Koi Pond. The excess water would bubble out the pond liner displacing pond water, and look ugly. The water drawn out was clean as it was filtered by the fiber under-padding under the pond liner. However I was so disappointed when it stopped working after less than two months. I had to send it back to Shurflo for warranty consideration instead of Northern Tool as more than one month had passed from purchase date. The Shurflo representative said that the warranty was not based on my purchase date but on the date of manufacture stamped on the pump! I couldn't see where that date was. I sure hope they honor the warranty. It's only been five days since I sent it to them, so I can't tell yet about that."

Shurflo Industrial Pump,
July 20, 2009
"I purchased this pump for the water system in my cabin. It works great and has enough pressure to run the shower and kitchen sink at the same time. I would recommend this pump to anyone that needs an on demand pressure pump.

"A great little pump for a Reverse Osmosis water circuit. When placed in a separate closed RO water circuit it provides just the pressure boost to allow for quick fills."

Shurflo pump,
November 17, 2008
"I have been collecting unfiltered rain water for flushing the toilets in our home. Had to do this to take some of the strain off the marginal well, which is our primary water source. The pump was plumbed to the toilet supply line via a T valve and shutoff valves. I can use normal house (well pump) pressure or the rain water via the Shurflo pump. With rain water in the tank, I just turn two valves, plug in the pump, and flush the toilets as normal, works great. The pressure switch in the pump senses the pressure drop when the toilet flushes, the pump kicks on and provides flow to refill the toilet tank, when the float valve in the tank closes the pressure builds back up, the pump shuts off. Couldn't work any better. I'm very pleased. One note, the pump does make some noise when operating. Try to mount it with some vibration damping from the houshold structure. I didn't at first, the first flush sent one of cats under the bed."

Reliable & Energy Efficient,
October 6, 2008
"I use this pump to lift (suck) clear/clean water from a spring well located about 5' below the level of the pump. The water is then pumped uphill another 15' into a 2500 gallon storage tank. Although I operate the pump for extended periods, I didn't get the heat sink for the motor. Instead, I plugged it into a timer so that it stops running for 15 minutes per hour to cool.
The pump uses less than 60 watts and produces approximately 2 gallons per minute. I have logged about 700 hours / 85,000 gallons on the pump and it still works as good as new. My pump is metered so I can report that my total electrical cost has been about $7.15 (at 17 cents / KWH) or about 120 gallons of water for each penny of electricity!
I considered lots of different options before I got the Shurflo 2088. Based on the specifications, it appeared to be the most cost-efficient option I could find for my application. It has certainly exceeded my expectations. My only regret is that I didn't buy two so that I could double my pumping rate when needed and also have a spare on hand for when it is time to replace the diaphragm after 2000 hours of use.
Although I work servicing and installing well pumps, I had never installed one of these pumps for a customer. Considering my positive experience with this pump, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to recommend it provided the water being pumped is clean or could be adequately filtered prior to entering the pump.

Shurflo 115 Volt Demand Pump,
August 12, 2008
By Trax

"This pump works great. Plenty of power on demand and quiet. I use it as a portable pump to winterize a hunt camp trailer. I have a 115 volt power source near the water intake making this pump easier to use than a 12V pump. It pumps the RV antifreeze throughout the system with no problem. I recommend a demand pump for anyone wanting to use the pump for winterizing. Connections were straight forward both electrical and for the fluid connections. No strange sizes involved.
Northern Tool was a pleasure to order from, and sent the product right away.

Great Pump but Really Loud,
June 25, 2008
"I purchased this pump to transfer refridgerated liquids between holding tanks. Pump primes itself with ease every time, works reliably, and is easily able to pump through ~100' of 5/8" tubing. Only issue is the noise it generates. Very loud - too loud for where I need it to run it so I will need to find another alternative. Would have said 5 Star othewise - still recommend it if you don't mind the noise."

"I am involved with a group amateur winemakers. We needed a way to transfer about 160 gallons of finished wine to barrels. The Shurflo Industrial Pump worked fine. Would only recommend for moving finished wine."
