great starter kit,
August 14, 2009
By LearningSolar

"Great starter kit to learn the basics of solar power. Very easy to set-up, as mentioned else where, the written instuctions are lacking. It will run my cable box but my TV won't come on. Per Toshiba, the sine wave isn't clean enough. Ended up getting a 700 watt inverter. Will start looking for quality batteries now.
If you want to learn the basics of using solar power this is the kit."

Charged up and ready to go: Sunforce 60 Watt Solar,
July 20, 2009

"This fine unit is easy to set up and start using right away. Weather seems not to bother this sturdy solar panel kit. Snow, rain and wind; for a year now in the mountains of Tennessee have not phased the unit at all. My batteries for lights, portable power sources are all kept charged up with just a few hours of sun.
I would recommend this kit to anyone needing to start learning about solar power as well as a special use application."

Solar Emergency Power,
July 17, 2009
By Troutman

"Fun setting the system up. It was easy (couple of hours) and it works!!! The inverter supplied ran a 60 w light ,a floor fan,and charged the grandson's riding John Deere Gator toy all together nicely, but could not handle a 1/4 drill alone but for a few seconds. Also the inverter has a cooling fan which runs continuously when it is on. An inverter that is not fan cooled for continuous standby operation with a little more surge capacitity would be nice to have. A later purchase perhaps.
The solar panels are well constructed with nice plug in wire harnesses. The sun charged my old, not completely dead, battery in an afternoon. I did not measure the charge current until the charge was almost complete and measured it at 3+ amps. The charge maintenance device supplied works fine. It tells when charge is in progress and when the charge is complete.
I am enjoying experimenting with solar for the first time. A good learning experience."

No Complaints!,

"We purchased this system to power our cabin. We had put 4 twelve volt batteries on the battery bank and this system does a pretty good job charging the batteries. We bought it to try the solar system and we are happy with it. Although we did have to buy a larger power inverter (2000 watt). We power all the lights in our cabin. We use the energy efficient light bulbs. All the lights on and a ceiling fan we can run for about 5 hours for sure. I'm sure someday down the road we may add a few more panels and batteries but this system is a great start."

60 Watt Solar System,
March 16, 2009
By rulenot

"I would give this product a 5 but the 7 amp charge contoller was faulty. I received wonderfull customer service and up graded to the 10 amp digital charge controller. This is much better charge controller. I would recomend ordering this with the kit right off the bat. Also, would recommend going with a 2 battery set up. 1 battery doesn't last long enough during the winter months. There is plenty of charging capacity from the panels and the 10 amp charge controller for 2 batteries."

GREAT Starter System!,

"I added this to my home built Wind Turbine....works like a CHAMP!. I suggest you build your own frame if you plan to permanently mount to the roof. The PVC Frame won't stand up the the occasional high winds we get off the ocean. If you use two Marine Batteries in Parallel as I did; you will probably also want to buy one of Northern's higher wattage inverters . WE got the 800 Watt model just before a big blackout and boy are we glad we did!"

Solar power panel,
November 19, 2008
By Chevelle69

"I have installed this unit on the roof of my house and have been working great charging 2 12v batteries. The instructions are not user friendly so you will have to pay close attention to them. For what you get is a great little package and is quick to assemble. When I was doing testing on the cords that came with this system I found that the battery clamp pigtail was wired backwards and would have damaged the charger so watch that piece."

60 watt solar kit,
November 17, 2008
By GACENCOM
from Lavonia, GA
"I have just installed the 60 watt solar kit at a remote radio tower. The system is 48v so I run the panels with one to each of four 12v batteries. It is running six radios and has been on for a few weeks with out any problems. The kit is simple to set up and the 200 watt inverter that comes in the kit is great to run my laptop when I am at the site. Perfect product for this project!"
