Scan Tool,
May 1, 2008
"All a code reader does is tell you what the code number is, and maybe a definition - that's it. This tool does more!
This is a scan tool as opposed to a code reader. My brother had me go with him before he bought a vehicle. I looked at all the parameters on the scanner. There were about thee vehicles with crazy things going on.
The tool works very well. I'd rate it 5 star! As with any scan tool, it's not foolproof. You do need to know what you're looking at. It is a tool. In order to use the information you actually need to have experience and understand what you're looking at. However, it's great in that it lets you look at vehicle parameters.

Expensive, but pays for itself,

"I had to think long and hard before spending this much money for a tool that I didn't expect to use very often. My real dilemma was deciding whether to spend the extra money to be able to read OBD I since vehicles requiring it are fast fading from the scene.
I feel that I've paid for the scanner in only one year. My high mileage car has been experiencing Intermittent problems that would have required many dealer visits to diagnose. It seems that a car never experiences problems when the dealer actually has his equipment hooked up to it. The real time display really earns its keep when it comes to diagnosing Intermittent problems.
I've still only used the OBD I capabilities to assist friends, but I expect that too will pay back in returned favors."
