Chamberlain Wireless PedestriaVehicle alert system,
August 18, 2008
By plertfrom Clearville, PA
"I have purchased two complete systems with seven remote sensors. They have been in operation for over three years without failure. I will strongly recommend purchase of this system to warn of intruders in long isolated driveways like mine. I have a quarter of a mile in a very wooded setting, but it works great. I use two sensors in a row about 100 yards apart in case it is a deer or a bear instead of a vehicle or person. I also use them around the main house to get an alert in case of intruders."

difficult to adjust sensitivity,
August 18, 2008
By MackinacJoefrom Central Michigan
"There are two problems regarding the sensitivity of the sender. First, it's a tedious process to adjust the sensitivity of the sender. Second, I was unable to adjust the sensitivity to detect a vehicle but ignore a person on foot.
Sensitivity is adjusted with two switches inside the housing of the sender. Each time you want to make an adjustment, you have to remove four screws, open the housing, switch one or two switches, put the housing back together, and replace four screws. It's too bad there isn't some way to switch the switches without taking it apart.
None of the four possible sensitivity switch combinations would let the sender detect a passing vehicle, but ignore a person or large animal. It either detected both or ignored both.
I might have been able to find the right combination if I had experimented with different locations and angles for the sender. But I just decided to live with having the buzzer sound on both vehicles and people on foot.
We've been using the unit for two months. Overall I would recommend this unit to others. But it's not quite as easy to set up as I had hoped."

"Installed 2 of these in two different sites. Had to relocate one of the transmitters because of a metalic obstruction. Range is very good. Wish there was an adapter to give the transmitter AC power."

vehicle alert system,
August 13, 2008
By garyerfrom Utah
"Bought a chamberlian alert system along with an extra receiver. The 900 feet range of transmission is worthless. I have adjusted both transmitters ,line of sight even and could only get about 300 feet. Then they only work sometimes. I would not recommend these to anyone over 300 feet range"

Chamberlain Wireless Alert System with Receiver,
August 12, 2008
By alexanderrfrom New Jersey
"The unit was easy to set up. The biggest problem I had was where to install it. I position the Alert system on the side of my house that has no windows and it works perfectly for my needs. I've been using it for 3 months now and feel safer at home. Totally recomend this unit."

Wireless Alert System,
July 9, 2008
By TheColonelfrom Grand Rapids, MI
"I purchased this recently and have had good experience - it was easy to set up (I have 2 receivers) and install. The only thing I would improve upon is the depth of detection - it only detects motion up to 30' away. It does, however, have a very wide span...so much so that I had to cover part of one side so that street traffic does not set it off! All in all, it seems like a quality product for the money."

Don't waste your money,
June 27, 2008
By woodsman42from Pennsylvania
"It does not reach anywhere near the 900ft. mark. I moved the receiver all around the house and it was only about 500ft. away at the most and would not receive a signal. But my hat's off to Northern Tools, they gave me my money back without any hassels. This product might work properly if you are with in 150ft.? My suggestion is to get a dog they are more reliable!"

Awful,
June 16, 2008
By Awfulfrom MA
"This alert system is NO GOOD! It says it has a transmission range of 1200ft, or 900 feet, depend which part you want to believe. How about NEITHER! I have a driveway about 600 feet long and this thing did not work until I got to about 100 feet from my house! What good is that? By then I can see who is in my driveway. I do not recommend this product at all."

By jim99from Bonners Ferry, Idaho
"I have a 250 foot driveway. This alert system has been working very well for over two years using the same 4 AA batteries. I recently changed batteries just to be safe. Of course, we are also alerted to deer using the driveway at 3:00 AM."

Driveway motion detector,
April 21, 2008
By tacoknifefrom Conway, AR
"I have used this detector for about three years and have been satisfied with it for the most part. It works better than another brand I had that cost twice as much. It will occasionally not detect a car passing by and will sometimes have a false alarm but overall I would much rather have it than not."

Works better than expected,
April 21, 2008
By WERTY4443from Rual Connecticut
"Purchased this "gaget" to help monitor my very long and hidden driveway. I did not expect much, but I thought I would give it a try.
Much to my amazement, it was easy to set up, works flawlessly, and is very dependable. It's been on the job for 6 months and I have no complaints what-so-ever."

Good Alert System,
April 19, 2008
By buffalofishfrom Orchard Park, NY
"The dogs have quickly come to recognize that the chime from this system means "visitors are coming!".
Our home is set back about 800' from the road, with the driveway going over the fields and thru the woods.... we never had much chance to know when someone was coming back for a visit.
I mounted the receiver about 600' feet from the house and it works great.... occasionaly a bunch of deer will walk by and we get a stream of chimes, but it rarely misses a car coming back.
The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, is that in winter, even with the weather shield in place, the sensor can fill with snow and stop working until the snow melts or I get up the driveway to clean in out.
I'd buy this item again."

Wireless Alert System,
April 18, 2008
By wisconsintrapperfrom Northeast Wisconsin
"I installed the alarm along the driveway to alert me of anyone coming or going. The line of sight between the receiver and transmitter is obstructed by a small patch of woods/brush, but it works great. Total distance is approx. 500' . No more surprise visits or people at my door without me already knowing they are coming. I would recommend this product to all."

Driveway alert system,
April 17, 2008
By miacommfrom Central Fl
"Installed two months ago and has worked flawlessly. The distance from my driveway entry sensor to the location in the house for the receiver is only about 200 ft but the signal appears to function each time on people or vehicles. The post on which the sensor is mounted is about 20 ft from a right angle roadway where many vehicles pass so I used the angle feature on the mounting to focus it away from that road to keep out unwanted alerts. Also it is set to the lower sensitivity mode. Additionally I added a 12v digital counter to the auxilliary contacts so I could tell when there is an entry when we are not in the house and it will increment by one on each entry--not that we would necessarily know who it was but still helpful."

Drive way alert,
April 15, 2008
By sidjjdfrom Sugarloaf PA
"We use one receiver and 3 transmitters - with average to good success! We have connected the receiver to a door bell and hear it loud and clear! We did notice light and speed can cause deviations in the quality of the system’s ability to sound an alert. (92 % accurate) Over all the units are working reasonably well for our application and the total investment."

Charmberlain Wireless Alert System,
April 15, 2008
By QDF2000from Longmont CO
"Really value this as an early warning system when people come down our drive. Lets us know when we have company, both invited and uninvited. Only can't get it adjusted so that birds, bugs and sunshining into it doesn't set it off."
