"This is a very basic wet saw. It is a great tile-saw for the homeowner.
We bought ours several months ago and it has worked flawlessly through one bathroom tub surround, vanity top, and backsplash. My wife fell in love with it and what started out to be a basic bathroom tile job turned into her outlet for artistic expression. The project turned out very nicely. (See pic.)
The saw has a plastic base and an aluminum deck. There are prongs to wind the cord up on, and a handle for carrying. The right side of the deck raises up to access the tub and has a stepped support for bevel cutting. The deck is not highly polished but tiles still feed fairly smoothly across the surface. It is wide enough for 8 in tile in any position. Larger tile sometimes needs to be free-handed depending on the cut. (The majority of our cuts were to 12 in. tile.) The laser guide light on our unit required a little adjustment to make it straight but this was easily done. The laser light was a bigger help than I hoped, especially on free hand cuts. The feed guide is adjustable for angle cuts, and while it does not appear all that substantial it works well. The motor is smooth and quiet, and powerful enough if you take your time. The blade runs true and there is no wobble. The blade included with the saw works for both porcelain and ceramic tile but wore out fairly quickly. However cuts were smooth if fed slowly and smoothly into the blade. Chip-outs were rare, and when we did get one they were very small. We never had a reason to have to re-cut a tile because of chips or breakage. (We did have to re-cut a couple because of poor measurements on my part.) After the original blade wore out we replaced it with a higher quality blade and speed of cutting improved. Like all splash tub saws, there is a significant amount of water that slings off the blade onto the operator. You will get wet. That said, it is no worse than other saws of this type, and is not unpleasant on a hot summer day. Even with the guard adjusted down close to the tile there is still a fair amount of spray. You will want to use this saw outdoors or put plenty of plastic down under the saw to keep your floor dry. Draining and refilling the tub is very easy. A small plastic putty knife works well to clean out the mud from the corners.
All in all this turned out to be a very good saw. I would recommend this saw to any homeowner. An excellent value for the money. The saw is capable of professional quality cuts and even a professional may find it handy for a backup or for the portability and ease of set-up. The saw is on it's third blade now and going strong. No problems at all. It has been well worth the money."
