Wild Thing 18" chainsaw, May 15, 2008
By WildThingHater from South Carolina

"Ordered a WIld thing chainsaw not paying attention to reviews but once I recieved and used the chainsaw I would not recommend any person to buy 1. Mine would not idle had to always press gas to keep it running and after 5 minutes of use after cutting down a 6" wide tree and trying to cut the tree up the blade was completely dull. This is not a good buy, save yourself the trouble and put down the extra cash for a new, different brand saw."

Reconditioned wild Thing Chainsaw, April 14, 2008
By LAWDOG54 from Alabama

"I had previously purchased two Wild thing chainsaws from NTE and was very pleased with the products, so I decided to try the reconditioned Wild Thing. It was a total disaster. The saw came with a 16 inch chain rather than the 18 inch required to fit the bar and the saw would not crank. The reconditioning quality was very poor and it just looked like a very used saw, including the 16 inch chain. NTE gave me a return number and rapid refund, great company. If you want a Wild Thing which is a great product, spend a few extra bucks and get the new one, the reconditioner has very low quality control standards."

Good girlie saw, January 21, 2008
By toolbetty from CALI

"Just writing in to say - I have one, although I bought mine new. I'm a small female and I can can go to town with this saw. Anything this saw can not handle, neither can I . I loan mine out alot to male friends for smaller lighter work and they like it too."

Poulan Chainsaw, October 29, 2007
By Pest from Montana

"I ordered it on line got it within the week and started it up and put it to use. For my budget and what I need it for it is a perfect match. It starts easy and is very comfortable to use. NOT too heavy and NOT too light. I did recommend it and as far as I know it will be purchased by that person. Thanks Northern Tools for becoming one of my favorite 'Toy' stores!!!!"

Wild Thing gets it done, October 10, 2007
By junipermonkey from Snowflake, Arizona

"A very good bargin for the price. I am very happy with all functions of the chain saw. I cut shaggy bark juniper which is tough stuff and have used other brands of chain saws but when I get ready for another one, It will be a Wild Thing again."

reconditioned, September 27, 2007
By abby from seattle

"the first one I ordered would not start. after about 15 minutes or so I decided to pull cover for carb and air filter and found spark plug wire was not even on the plug and had been crushed under the cover when it was re installed. after several tries it finally started but could not get it to idle and was very hard to re start.I called customer service explained problem and I requested they send me another one. Great ! Today I received the second one ,it started right up so I thought I had scored . I let it warm up idled great went to use it hit full throttle and it DIED.I let it run for a while cut some small pieces of wood but every time I hit full throttle it would start sputtering and DIE. Gess what? this one is going back too and now I am going to spend some money and buy a real chain saw I do not recommend this product they are junk . They are not refurbished to like new condition!"

you get what you pay for, July 9, 2007
By Marty from Michigan

"the reconditioned saw had to be brought for service before it worked. the serviceman alleged water in the carborator. Even now that it works, it is very hard to start when HOT. Starting from cold is okay, but don't ever turn if off until you're done with your task."

"For a low cost chain saw this works very well. Starts easy and is very light. Has pretty good torque and compares with other more expensive saws."

Do not reccommend, March 7, 2007
By rod7290 from California

"The pull cord was wrapped around the shaft upon arrival. The cord would not retract. After about an hour of trying to repair it, I finally got it back to the working condition. The Poulan Wild Thing was very hard to start. After about a half hour it started and ran fine. However, the cord would not retract again, and I had to take it apart again."

Poulan Wild Thing Chain Saw, March 7, 2007
By RitchQ from Double Oak, TX

"I have been very pleased with the chain saw I ordered. Even though it was stated as "reconditioned" it appears brand new. All the components were included and the saw started on the first attempt. I have used in on 2 trees so far and it has never failed me. I especially like the chain break / stop features. I feel that the chain saw was designed with the casual user in mind but can perform at a more professional level if needed.
I will add a nose piece to avoid kickbacks but that was not a decision factor when I ordered it."

Good Saw, March 7, 2007
By hbhamm from Owensboro,Ky.

"Had to use my (new) refurbished saw to cut nearly 45 red oaks (12" - 16" diameter) and 12 hedge apple trees (10" - 12" diameter). Started easy enough and after getting saw warmed up good had to readjust chain tension - as this is normal. Saw ran great and quieter than other saws I have used. Saw showed signs of pre-use - but most refurbished items are going to. With proper preventive maintenance, I can see this saw lasting many years. No need to treat this saw with kid gloves - it can handle it."

Wildthing should be called Junkthing!!, November 16, 2006
By Mark from northeast pa.

"Cut a few dozen small sumac trees (if you can call them trees) and two small birch trees (about 12"-!5" diameter) and the clutch froze up. I was left with a birch tree cut about 2/3 the way through. This machine is junk!! The reconditioning consisted of a new chain/bar and cover. The saw was definately used. This was evident by the large number of deep scratches on the bottom. Would,nt sell this to anyone!!"
