"I have installed this in our tool shed/green house and it is keeping the temperature we wanted very well. The fan is a little noisy but does not seem to bother much when we are busy working in there. I would deffinately recommend this to a freind."

Warm Camper,
July 16, 2009
"After reading the reviews for the Ouellet Portable Heater we were sceptical but decided to try it. We needed a small efficient heater with a thermostat for under our 2000 sq. ft. mobilehome. The Ouellet Portable Heater was wonderful. It kept the floors warm, our electric bill went down and our propane use dropped in 1/2. We would recommend to everyone."

Noisy Fan,
January 14, 2009
By Anonymous
from Northern California
"Some reviewers commented on the noise of the fan. My fan was totally quiet.
I plugged the heater in, waited for the fan to turn on, presuming that it was thermostatically switched, the heater element glowed red, then an overheat switch shut everything down. Before contacting Northern Tool for instructions for returning the heater, i took a gamble, removed the cover, and found that the fan blades were jammed against the heater element support lugs. I had to bend all four blade before the fan would turn freely.
Plugged it back in, turned it on, and now i join the chorus commenting on fan noise -- at least it operates and does heat my wood work shop

Great garage heater,
January 10, 2009
"i bought this heater to replace my old garage heater. This is a great little heater. Heats my 30X 35 garage with ease. i set the temp to 55 and leave it. I agree with ohthers that is is noisy, but i fixed that the noise was coming from some sort of limiter inside the unit. their was a silver disc the size of a nickel that rattled so i put a little silcone on it and the noise went away for the money you can not beat it."

Heats My Garage,
November 25, 2008

"OK, so on a cold day, turn this one on, go shopping for an hour, and when you get back, garage is nice and toasty. Had to change the plug for my use, but you need to do that for everything 240 volt, dont you? VERY noisy - everyone says the noise comes from the fan, but I think it rattles from loose or poorly designed guts. However, for the price, you won't find a forced air 4000 watt heater even close to this one. Also be careful, because at the 4000 watt setting, you will spend say 40 cents an hour running it (no fault of the heater - 4000 watts is 4000 watts no matter what heater you use). On final niggling little problem - the temperature setting knob is in the back, not in the front like on every other heater in the universe. That knob position makes it a yoga excercise to change the temperature."

very poor,
February 19, 2008
"Over priced fan is all it is. It is noisy as all get out, takes forever to heat up and never shuts off. Its a piece of junk. The 2,000 watt in wall model I had before was by far a better heater. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Definately overated at the 4000 watt rating."

Nice heater,
January 21, 2008
By jrocks

"This heater is as described. It does a good job. The fan moves a large volume of air so it is a little noisy, but the result is good heat transfer and keeping the temperature right in front of the grill to a lower, safe temperature. The only issues with it are that no literature was included (but can be downloaded from the manufacturers website) and the picture of the plug is incorrect. It is in fact a 240V 1 PH 20 Amp unit and if you have this type plug you fine, but the picture shows the blades arranged for a 30 Amp circuit and is not the type plug on the unit. Make sure you check this. Overall, a good unit at a good price."

240V ouellet Heater provides plenty of heat,
January 16, 2008
"I purchased this heater for less than any other 240v heater on the market and consider it to be one of the best I have seen so far, and I have had 3 other portable 240 heaters which did not provide as much heat. In the 3 years I have had it, I used it constantly with out a problem. It will keep my well insulated 42 by 40 shop warm by itself. The one knock against this one would be fan noise, it is not quiet, but is fine for a shop setting, you would not want to study with this running in the background. The simple thermostat on the back works perfect, set it and forget it. Be fore warned that it doesnt run on jelly beans. It will use over $200 a month here in northern MN if you leave it on continuiously. Overall all though it is a great buy that cant be beat for the money."

"Goodmorning, Well this is not review from a man. I bought the Ouellet Portable Heater — 240 Volts, 4000 Watts. Model# OCH4000 for my mother for her little 2 room Beauty Shop. It will hold one in the chair and 3 waiting. The heater is the perfect size to keep the air warm enough for her customers wet hair. We were recommended to you site by my boyfriend who works for a public school and knows about your product. Based on the size of the build he told us what to buy. It was very easy to pay over the internet and it was shipped right to our house. Fast and easy.
Thank you Northern Tool and Equipment for a job well done.
