shiloh wood stove,

"I bought this stove to heat my 500 sq. ft. single story hunting camp. The camp is fully insulated except for the floor. The claimed 6-8 hr. burn time is a bit optimistic in my neck of the woods (western U.P. of Michigan). I burn well seasoned maple hardwood and it is hard to get any decent sized wood in the fire box due to the afterburn tubes on top. It takes awhile to get heat out of it at 10 degrees F or lower. A 4 hour burn is more realistic. Tough to keep wood in it when I am out hunting or ice fishing all day. On the plus side, the assembly instructions were straight forward and the workmanship is very good. It is a a great looking stove and the large glass door gives a nice view of the flames at night. Overall I am fairly happy with it except for the load capacity and burn time.
It would be nice to get a full 6-8 hours sleep between fill ups. Floor insulation will probably help considerably , it is in the works.

Heat When You Need It,

"The Shiloh Wood-Burning Stove is an excellent product for heating your home or workshop. Heavily constructed from plate steel the stove is engineered to give many years of faithful service. The heavy cast iron door with its self cleaning glass is functional as well as attractive. To be able to heat up to 1400 s.f. with one filling of wood every 6 to 8 hours is impressive. One additional feature that I like is the easily accessed ash tray which is located in the pedestal base. Considering its price, it would be difficult for another brand to match its usefulness, durability and good looks."

Shiloh wood-burning stove Model-TR002,

"Stove was packed very well but assembly was a problem. Instructions called for 5/16 nut driver - was actually #10 metric. Minor but confusing. The door inlet control (damper) was a big problem. Located above the door it is supposed to slide to open or close 3 air inlet holes. It was jammed or obstructed probably with a burr. I couldn't move it so used a hammer and struck it several hard blows. Fortunately it released. The stove when assembled is mounted to a pedestal with 4 bolts to secure it. Nuts were already installed but one was badly cross threaded and jammed. I backed it off and filed with a 3 corner file for a half hour before I could install a new nut - still isn't right. Door handle and inlet control handle are shaped like springs. The manufacturer twisted these to form them, then cut the wire but left the ends extremely sharp. Should have burred these before assembly. The packing holding the window in is unraveled and cannot be shoved back into place. I got most of these thing taken care of because I'm quite handy but I sure wouldn't recommend it for anybody else. And at almost 300 pounds, this definitely isn't something you can just pack up, put it in your mailbox and send back to Northern Tool. I will say, once the problems were solved the stove works well but next time I'd purchase a different product. I did write Volelzang and explaind all this to them with the thought they could improve in the future. I didn't even receive the courtesy of a reply."
