Pretty Nice!, April 22, 2008
By MMChap from Bridgewater, MA

"I bought this machine mainly for disposing of branches and yard waste, and it does a pretty good job. It is slow going as you must feed each branch in individually, but it gets the job done. I was impressed by the vacuum part of the machine. Late last summer I dethatched my lawn and thought I was going to be in for a rough time raking up the thatch that was all over my grass. I tried the vac, not thinking it was gonna do much, and it sucked up all the thatch in quick order with only one pass!
This machine is not good for big jobs like clearing out lots of brush, as I am finding out now, but great for time to time stuff."

good vacuum, April 21, 2008
By ronbb from tx

"works great as a vacuum but a little more difficult to use the chipper chute. piece of wood jammed behind the chipper blade a couple of times and had to take it apart to free it, but it works great as a vacuum and does a great job shredding leaves and grass."

Troy Bilt Chipper.Vaccum, April 21, 2008
By Maddog42 from North Carolina

"Great machine after you get the hang of it. Clogs easily if small debris is put in chute. Not the easiest bag to empty."

Troy-Bilt Chip/Shred/Vac, April 15, 2008
By StallMan from Tyler , Texas

"This is a great piece of equipment if you are concerned about equipment storage. For a homeowner like myself who has a moderet to heavy denisity of trees to clean up after this is a very good investment. It does an excellent job of shredding leaves and small branches. The chipper is adiquite, the only problem is on limbs of maximum size (2 5/8")if you dont get it all chipped before shutting the unit down you will have to remove the chipper shoot to un jam the teeth other wise it wont start (it jams). The Vacuum is good could be a little stronger, it does great on leaves and small branches, But it is not so good on, Sweet gum balls, Sycomore balls, and large Acorns. Over all I am very satisified with my new Big Boy Toy!"

Save room in your bag, January 15, 2008
By Homeowner46 from Western Kansas

"Troy Built Chiper Vac is a very good product to perchase when you want to save room in your bag, and your back will lick you to!. Only 3 or 4 things to put together and gas, oil,( they sent). And I was off., vacuming my yard. I have 8 LARGE trees in my yard so the leaves were about 3 inches thick , I hade to go over them twice to get them all. Last year it tock 43 large bages to dispose of them , but this year 8 mediem bages took care of it. It took Northern Tool co. took about 12 days to ship it to me, longer than I expected. The wing nuts have a problem coming off while using the Vac but with a lock nut they hold a lot better.Thank You."

wonderful!!!!, October 31, 2007
By nascar17 from burlington,wi

"the troy built chipper was a great buy for me. i liked the way it worked on
chipping the branches i trimmed from trees. i used it as mulch for my
bushes, etc. it also worked good for fall clean up. its a lot easier than
all the raking and bending and pulling a tarp. there really isn't anything
i dislike about the chipper. i would recommend it to anyone.

Hard working machine, a couple of minor bugs, October 29, 2007
By RayK from San Jose, California

"I bought this unit to pick up leaves. I was attracted to the chipper function because I knew that there would be lots of branches to chip up. My first use of the machine was dissappointing because the chipper blades were not as sharp as they should be. I took the unit apart and sharpened the blades and got the chipping performance I was first expecting. I used it for a while and noticed that one of the bolts attaching the chipper chute had broken off. It was not long until another of the bolts broke off leaving only one to support the chute. I was told (by Troy-Bilt) that I would have to return the machine for them to fix the defect. I wasn't about to do that. I drilled holes through the studs that pulled out of their welded on heads. I was able to thread the hole with the next size larger bolt and used those threads as a means to make sure that these new bolts did not wander into the chipper blades. The new bolt heads were closer to the moving blades than the original design but the cross section of the bolts made for an excellent repair with no worry of a recurrence of the orginal failure mode.
It bugged me that Troy-Bilt would not accept my documentation and suggestion for making their product better. I has performed well since."

Troy Bilt Chipper Shredder Vacuum, October 14, 2007
By JayK from Northern Virginia

"Though the (minor details below) I enjoy using this machine. It really makes cleaning up all my leaves a fun task. It has been great about not picking up stones and will pick up acorns if the chute is down low enough. I have found that dry leaves on bare soil can make dust. A very light sprinkling of water over the leaves before you start takes care of the dust. Overall I like the Troy Bilt Chipper Shredder Vacuum machine. I think that with a little care it will last a long time.
Assembly had holes on the chipper chute approximately 1"" too low. Re drilled the chute holes was easily done. Front Suction assembly switch actuator was formed wrong. Had to straiten the actuator bracket for the safety switch in order to put the suction assembly on the front of the machine, and have the safety switch work and not get broken. Machine is a little hard to pull, but I found that one slow pull followed by one good pull starts it every time. I have noticed that there is a need to keep an eye on screws and nuts so that they do not vibrate loose. When using the chipper, if branches are chipped with the large part of the branch inserted first... The remaining smaller branches can take a long time to completely clear the chipper. If they do not clear before stopping the machine, The starter cord will be jammed. The chipper chute will need to be removed and clean out the unchipped smaller pieces. I would like to have seen a better way to connect the bag to the debris chute. I think a better quick release would have been a good idea there. I have to pull the strap real tight to keep dust from coming out between the bag and the chute."
