A Great Grinder/Stuffer,
March 7, 2007
By Sausagekingfrom Annapolis, MD
"I did a great deal of research before selecting this grinder. Suffice it to say, this is a great product at a great price and I have found no others that come close in quality in this price range. My Grinder/Sausage Stuffer came with 3 stuffing tubes while the product specs listed only one ( pleasant surprise). I use it primarily for grinding and stuffing all types of sausage. It is a superior product with all metal food contact parts. The "ON" switch can also be "pulsed" by pushing it in partway, an important feature when stuffing sausage. All the critical parts can be easily removed for cleaning (and boiling) if you sterilize the unit after using (which you should).
The only improvement that could possibly be made is not with the product, but with the instruction manual. The manual instructs you to remove the grinder plate and cutter when installing the stuffing tube for stuffing sausage. This will not work as the grinder plate also serves as the front bearing surface for the auger. When removed, the auger is not supported at the front and will work its way out from the motor housing connection socket. (no big deal as it comes out for cleaning anyway, but you can't stuff sauges in this configuration). So, I put the grinder plate and blade back in, then put on the stuffing tube and "wala", it worked like a charm. So if you choose, grind and stuff in one operation. If you choose not to do it this way, put in the larger grinding plate when you get ready to stuff so you don't get a "double grind" that is finer than you desire!
I can't say enough good about this machine. It is heavier duty than any I have found in this price range, has a powerful motor and the grinding disks (3 sizes come with the machine) and cutter blade appear to be made from tool steel. The auger, collar, auger housing, and meat tray are all cast aluminum. It has built in cord storage and wieghs more than you would expect. Kudos to Northern Tool, they scored a winner with this product!"

Great value, great product-Highly recommend.,
March 7, 2007

"The meat grinder has worked very well for me, better than I expected for the cost of the unit compared to other models I evaluated. I bought it as an interim solution until I could get a larger HP unit, but am thinking now I won't need it. I was very surprised how quickly it ground a deer without cutting it into small pieces, as i'd had to do previously with a comparably priced unit. I also didn't have any problems with it clogging with connective tissue or tendon-surprisingly as I just ran the meat through to give it a good test. It didn't even slow down. The cutter was clean when done, unlike others I had to clean out several times while processing a deer. It is also an unusual cutter blade, shaped like a propellor pushing the meat towards the cutting disk, unlike others that were just a flat knife. It saved alot of time and aggravation. I never got a chance to try to reversing switch as it wasn't needed, but if/when it will be good. The storage area that allows keeping the parts with the unit was something I really like too. Cord storage was nice too. A great value, I would highly recommend."

Gettin' it done fast,
November 23, 2006
By CaptEfrom Missouri
"My good friend and hunting buddy recently used my newly purchased grinder to process meat from two deer we took during the high power season here in MO. We ground a little over 60 pounds of venison in a little over 20 minutes. Last year with a hand grinder it took well over two hours to grind a comprable amount of meat. The grinder preformed flaulessly. It never strained no matter how fast we were pushing the meat into it, and the strainer never clogged. The three strainers along with the metal pan, and grinding head make this a very versitile product. Clean up was easy, just put all of the moving parts in the dish washer. I would recommend that the steel strainer head be removed after the wash cycle and hand dried then coated with some oil to prevent rusting. P.S. My friend was so impressed with the performance of my grinder, he has asked me to order one for him. ."

Awesome meat grinder,
July 8, 2008
By BlueStreakfrom San Pablo, California
"I unpacked, assembled, and just turned this product on to deliver my rating . By my Internet research of meat grinders, I can tell you, just from the type of construction, parts and the sound this product has to offer, it is the best meat grinder on the market for this price range. Used properly, is product should last for years. I thank you for the design and engineering put into this product. Good job. I will definitely enjoy using this product in the years to come.....Only a thought, replace the Aluminum parts with stainless steel and increase the difference in the price for stainless. That's the only way to one could improve on this product. You could have two models for people with different price budgets. Thank you."

Best Grinder for the Money!!,
April 22, 2008
By Loveagoldenfrom Montgomery, Alabama
"My two Golden Retrievers get a home cooked diet and I previously used the grinding attachment on my Standing Mixer, but found that it got very hot, in a short amount of time and it didn't do a very good job.... This Grinder has been incredible. Just last week, it took me less than 15 minutes to grind 20 lbs of chicken. Took me longer to prep the meat than it did to grind it... (prep was for my personal needs, omitting most of the fat & bones). The grinder fed the meat through so quickly that I could barely keep up with it. It practically feeds the meat through on it's own! I've had this grinder for over a year now & am completely satisfied with it's performance."

Handy grinder,
April 22, 2008
By Kodiakfrom Kodiak, AK
"Surprisingly powerful grinder. Most smaller inexpensive grinders cannot handle the rigors of wild game like sheep, mountain goat, and elk. However this inexpensive unit has processed dozens of tough game animals over the past several years. I have replaced the blades once. I have recommended this product to friends and they have also been pleased with it's performance. When this one finally burns out, I will most likely purchase the same brand and save hundreds of dollars. My one complaint is the metal tends to oxidize and I need to make sure the bin and grinder sleeve is very dry before storage."

Great Product,
April 21, 2008
By venisongrinderfrom Enumclaw, Wa
"I bought this with venison processing in mind and I got the opportunity to use it within weeks of buying it. This grinder is perfect for the sportsman who wants to process his own meat. It will grind the meat literally as fast as you can feed it. It has plenty of power and did exactly what it was intended to do. If the scrap meat is cut into strips that can feed throught the tray without having to force it, you can grind up an entire deer in only a few minutes. I am still eating the sausage produced and look forward to using it again next season."

Northern Industrial Tools Electric Meat Grinder,
April 21, 2008
By 2bbutchfrom NC
"I bought this electric machine because I am getting older and don't need the hassle of struggling with the hand crank style of grinder and stuffer. What a blessing this machine is. It grinds the meat and stuffs the sausage very easily. It cleans up easuily as well. We use it several times a year for making fresh Polish sauasage. This is an arm saver!"

Excellent Grind Power,
April 19, 2008
By Louiesplacefrom Northern Maine
"This machine is every bit as advertised and then some!! Grinds effortlessly, if you make a mistake and over fill it, you can stop, reverse it for a few seconds, and start in grinding again with ease and no taking it appart, cleaning it out by hand and starting over again. Cleans up in a snap. It deserves more than 5 stars in my book.. For the low price compared to commercial machines, it is truly a bargain and money well spent.."

Great Home Use and Game Grinder,
April 15, 2008
By Waidmannfrom Heidelberg, Germany
"What a fantastic product from home use! Used it to make wild boar sausage and had zero problems with ligaments or other skin/fat - nicely ground. I cut the meat into 1-1 1/2" cubes that the machine ground at a rate of 1 kilogram (2.2 lbs) in about three minutes - was surprised how fast and effectively it worked. Dissassembly and washing were a snap and the shipping box makes a handy storage/protection box. It takes up very little counterspace when working and the metal feed tray is a plus. The operating instructions were simple and easy to use; especially with the callout diagram.
Minor comments for the 4 out 5 rating: (1) the little storage compartment is nice, but feels like very cheap plastic; (2) it runs a little loud, but not too much more than any standard mixer or blender; and (3) only other improvement would be metal vs. plastic sausage feeder tubes.
Overall, this is a great product and especially for the price. If you are looking for your first grinder, I highly recommend this product."

Great Not only for the price but period,
April 15, 2008
By JONBOYfrom Bolingbrook IL
"This grinder is awesome!!!!! Heavy duty construction. I thought that for the price i was going to get something that was just ok had looked at a lot of other grinders in the same price range. But when i opened the box and saw how heavy duty it was i was very happy. It grinds meat very fast and efficient. If I have one compliant is that the sausage stuffer part of the grinder does not work very well. So I'm going to buy a tube stuffer and use that in combination with the grinder."

meat grinder,

By papaparfrom lafayette, louisiana
"got all the information we could to make the right decision, unable to look at the grinder for comparison, finally decided on the Northern electric grinder. When opened the box we were suprised at the size and the quality of the unit. We got to grinding some pork/deer sausage the next day, made about 25 pounds of sausage in about one hour, our first try. Some of the deer meat was still slightly frozen but the grinder went through it with no strain. Clean up time included. Really pleased with the grinder and would recommend. Ordered a second grinder for a friend which arrived about 2 weeks later with a catalog showing the grinder at a lower price. After contacting Northern we were given credit on both grinders. Thanks Northern"

"I am a retired chef and resturant owner. Back when I was operating my business, I had a commercial Hobart meat grinder which became an important tool in my kitchen. Since retireing and selling my business, I still get the urge to grind Beef, Pork and Chicken for sauage and meat loaves. The grinder I purchased from Northern Tool is fantastic. This grinder is well made, strong and powerfull. It is easy to clean and delivers a great product. I reecommend this grinder for all your home applications, and best of all its a great price.."

"I NEVER write testimonials, but I was compelled to in this instance because this is one of the best things I ever bought. It must be the Mercedes of meat grinders! It's so solid, well built and powerful. The fit, finish and materials are superb. It's really simple to use and comes apart easily for quick cleaning. We grind top sirloin for our dog and what used to be a half hour ordeal with a hand grinder now takes about one minute. It's fun to use!"

Pags,

"I have been grinding meat as a hobby for about 5 years. I have only owned one other grinder which was slow and long and bogged down a lot. I make a lot of sausage and this grinder will grind as fast as you can feed it in the hopper. I had no bog down on the motor and it was almost too fast for one person to keep up with.when making sausage. Accessories are good for sausage and all types of grinding. For the money you can not beat this grinder. Compares to many priced much higher."

Great Grinder,
January 31, 2008

"I have been using this grinder for over eight years now. My family and I usally cut up on ave. of about 15 deer a year. We use the grinder for all the grinding and it works great. We also use it for pork and beef, as well. We have used it to make make sauage too. We have no complaint with the unit. We have convenced seveal friends to buy this product, and they too have loved it. All in all we have over the years probably proccess a ton of meat with no complaint. You just have to keep the hard fat trimed off the deer or you will clog the blade. If you need a grinder this is a great one. When the times comes for a new grinder we will be ordering this one again."
