NorthStar Generator — 9 HP, 5500 Watt, Gasoline,
August 18, 2008
By Sparky747from Milwaukee Wisconsin
"I have owned and operated this generator for several years, and it has preformed flawlessly. Starts on 1 pull of the recoil, and the Honda is very easy on gas which gives a long run time with it's large gas tank."

Very Strong,
August 18, 2008
By Logmannorthfrom Upper Michigan
"My generator is the older model, but what a machine! It's been used for construction, farming, and around the house. It been in and out of pick-ups many times and can be loaded with one man. It starts within one or two pulls all the time, even after sitting for 6 mo. I had it hanging from a crane once and banged it hard into a log. The handle bent just a little. I never straighted it the handles are strong. In my 9 years i have never fixed anything, except oil changes. You will love it!"

Honda Portable Generator-5500 Watts,
August 11, 2008
By RoxRfrom Excelsior Springs, MO
"This generator has been very reliable over the past five years. I live in an area serviced by a coop utility and outages are common(the longest being over three days in January after an ice storm). This was indispensible in keeping my furnace(gas) on and my refrigerators and freezers cooling. I also use it to power electric tools in remote locations. I have just done the usual maintenance to it(change oil, put gas stabilizer in it, etc.) and it has never failed to start after two pulls of the recoil starter. Very good overall, highly dependable machine. I heartily recommend it."

Good portable generator.,
August 11, 2008
By JEPILRfrom Little Rock, AR
"I purchased the (discontinued) 8hp model in June 2008. Shipping was reasonable and delivery time was as advertised. Generator fired up on the second pull. My 60 year old mother can start it - very easy pull. Runs relatively quietly. Have not yet needed to use it to power essential household items. But I start it monthly - as recommended in the manual - to keep the coil from sustaining damage from water condensation. I didn't spend the money on the wheel kit, instead electing to build a small wood frame to which I bolted 4 caster wheels. I then bolted this assembly onto the bottom of the generator. Works great. Set me back 15 bucks. The only complaint I have is that the generator doesn't come with its own grounding cable. This wouldn't be too much trouble for the company to provide, in my opinion. Only a minor complaint - as grounding cables are easy to fabricate."

A+ product,
April 25, 2008
By Anonymous Reviewerfrom Miami, Florida
"After discovering that I had forgotten to drain the gas and oil after last hurricane season I was resigned to having to take this in to the shop. Much to my surprise it started right up after just changing the old gas for fresh. Last major power outage it kept 2 refrigerators and a freezer running for 3 days along with several fans, lights and a small wall ac at night. I'd still keep this as a backup to my new whole house unit."

Northstar Generator,
April 21, 2008
By PM560from Appalachian Mountains of Virginia
"I live in the country and our power supply is delicate, especially in the winter ice storms and the summer thunderstorms. More than once I've tried to get through the woods to or from the highway and found an 18" oak across the road. The same happens to the power lines. When you don't want the house to freeze or all the meat in the freezer to rot, it's important to have a reliable source of emergency power.
This generator has always started on the first push of the button and continued to run until I didn't need it."

The Best for Less,
January 21, 2008
By BobbyTheBuilderfrom Memphis, TN
"I wanted a Honda motor on my generator but I did not want to spend $2500 plus for a generator. This generator gives you Honda starting and reliability without the wallet draining price. I have used this generator to power my camper for several years now without a problem. During the Elvis storm in Memphis I ran my refrigerator and my neighbors for 3 days straight. I am very happy with it."

"Read the book. Add some oil and gas. Choke and pull the rope. You can't make it any easier than that. This unit has a really good engine and should be going strong for a long time."

Excellent Generator,
October 29, 2007
By 01Viperfrom Morris, Illinois
"I own this unit, and thought I only use it for power outages it has been flawless through the years. It see's use 2-3 times a year, and most of those is just to start it up to run it for a bit versus actuall powering of my home. It starts quickly, and runs excellent. The large built in tank allows power for 6+ hours, and can run everything in my home with the exception of the A/C. I would recommend this generator to anyone who is looking for a solid piece of equipment!"

No more camping at home!,
March 7, 2007
By GRodmanfrom Yorktown, VA
"I purchased a this generator after being without power for several days after a hurricane(rare to area) came though town. I swore that the experience of camping in a 2000 sq./ft. tent would not happen again. It sat dormant for 2 years thankfully but when we lost poer for 3 days from a tropical storm, it exceeded my expectations. The food was cold, ALL of the 110v outlets and lights had power so life went on. The run time is fantastic, ran longer than advertised on a tank of fuel and I am convinced Honda make the best running small engines in the world.
Anyone in dought if this is enough to get you by here is my list of itmes used without power; 2 refridgerators, 8 ceiling fans, microwave, coffee maker(wasn't to happy, but worked), home computer, 2 TV sets(including one flat panel plasma) just about all the lighting you can possibly need."
