Hobart AirForce 400,
November 2, 2009

"I had wanted a plasma cutter for a very long time but wouldn't come off the $. After getting frustrated with using an oxy/acetelyne torch, sawzall and several other cutting wheels, decided to take the leap about a year ago. I'd never used a plasma cutter but had seen them used - so was a bit nervous about the $ and ability of the machine.
It took minutes to take out of the box, hook up my air hose and start cutting. I was absolutely amazed and seriously ticked about not buying one years ago.
I've used it to cut thin sheet metal, 1/8" thick tubing, 3/16" bar and 1/4" aluminum plate. It cut through all of it like it was butter - very quick, clean, easier than a torch, less slag, much less fire risk, much more flexible.
Since I bought this machine, the only time I've used the oxy/acetylene torch is to heat/bend metal. Money extremely well spent and wish I'd bought this machine years ago."

"I just recieved this last week. Performs as advertised. I installed a plug and converted it to 230 volts. It cuts 1/2" steel very well. A buddy of mine has the Lincoln equivilant of this plasma cutter and this one performs every bit as well for much less money."

"This is my first experience using a plasma cutter. The cutter works as advertised. Easy to use straight from the box. The Plasma cutter is very useful for yard art and farming task . I also like the portability aspect of the cutter. I can carry it from job site to job site fairly easy. This plasma cutter has been a great investment and addition to my shop. For anyone doing light to medium work this is the cutter to have."

Plasma cutter,

"I have always wanted to own a plasma cutter as i do a lot of metal fabrication and welding. This is the most useful tool i have bought thus far. It cuts from thin gauge metal to 1/2" stock with the same ease. It is a big machine in a small package. I hooked my air to it and went to cutting right away. Another good thing about it is the fact that i saved over $300 by buying it from Northern, None of the competition could touch this price."

"only have tested it out once on 1/8th inch steel but it worked great. the 115 v plug that it came with is not the typical household 115 v outlet style... its another 115 v plug style for higher amperage. i made a pigtail adapter to run it to the standard household style outlet"

Plasma Cutter,
January 14, 2008
By Luckydog

"The Hobart 400 is my first plasma cutter so I have nothing to compare it to. Being a retired handyman I was surprised that it was as simple as taking it out of the box and starting to experiment with cutting. No assembly required whatsoever. While I have considerable to learn about using it, it is so easy to use that I will be creating opportunities to experiment. We definitely could have used this tool when I was growing up on the farm. Definitely a good tool for the serious handyman or professional."

Hobart Plasma Cutter,
July 9, 2007
By ricksfabrcation

"As a custom aluminum fabricator I must be on the money with my cuts. Using the straight line and circle roller guides can make perfect detailed cuts each time. The Hobart plasma cutter is the only machine that allows me to cut aluminum other than a circlular or jig saw. Aluminum and stainless are very touchy materials to fabricate and weld; the Hobart plasma cutter has made my work more economical, quicker & more precise. I strongly recommended this piece of equipment to anyone needing a very exacting way to cut material.
