Real do-it-yourselfers WELD!,
April 14, 2008
By BAM1

"This is a super welder. We wanted something portable but not limited to 230 volts in case that was not available. The AC/DC option also lets you weld with extreme accuracy. According to the instructions there is also a wire welding uplift option. This covers ALL the bases. I strongly recommend getting the wheel package for added mobility."

Hobart Stickmate AC/DC Welder — LX235,
November 2, 2009
By Sonny2
from Argyle, TX
"I bought this to replace a Lincoln AC 225 because it did not have DC capability. I use it almost every week around the ranch, and almost always on a DC setting. The welds have less spatter, and look beautiful. I have been able to weld thin to thick stock using the adjustments on the welder, with great success. I have built a cart for the welder, and added an extension cord to be able to move it around the shop. The only negative about the welder is the lead length, and I have replaced the ground clamp. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of the Hobart."

great little welder,

"I bought this welder to do some stainless stuff on my boat and build trailers and log splitters. I use a 350amp miller at work and was impressed with the quality this little Hobart machine is capable of. I have had this welder for 2 yrs now I always use the DC voltage and have only tried the AC to make sure it worked I am very impressed at how well this unit strikes and lays a bead. I have even welded thin wall stainless with 1/16" 308 rods with this Hobart and surprisingly got great results. This is a great little machine :-)"

Hobart Stickmate LX,
July 14, 2009
By mikeash

"I bought this welder after finishing welding classes where I certified 7018 all positions. I have finished two projects with this welder and I like how compact it is while still having plenty of power.
You have to find the sweet spot with this machine as I found you had to do with the industrial welders I learned on, but once you do, it will be a great asset to the hobbyist."

Hobart AC/DC Stickmate,
March 23, 2009
By nadogail
from Coronado, CA
"This is a "light commercial" welder. Industrial Maintenance was my line of work until I retired. One of my buddies, a professional welder, was impressed when he saw it. "I thought you had bought a toy, you could build a ship with that"
My first project was a cart to set the welder on. It rolls on casters from the storage space in my garage home work shop to the job. Lead length has not been a problem. My little cart rolls right up to the job. I made an 8 AWG extension cord and can weld any where in the shop or driveway.
I would buy an exact replacement."

Stickmate AC/DC , AMAZING MACHINE,
March 23, 2009
By allworkandnoplay
from Adrmore , Oklahoma
"I have had my Stickmate a little over a year now, this machine always delivers. From thin sheet metal to heavy steel, not a problem for this welder. The only thing I would like to see changed would be longer leads from the factory. I would recomend this welder to anyone thinking about buying one."

"The Hobart Stickmate, has been a real plus for this person with limited welding experience. I am able to move it around by myself, and It has a very finite heat adjustment, which makes setting up and welding with this product a breeze."
