reassured,
July 20, 2009
By muskie32

"I read some of the 'marginal' reviews on this item but decided to purchase one anyway because of the extremely reasonable price and the features were exactly what I was looking for. I mounted it vertically to a stud in the wall of my garage to use mainly with an electric edger and hand held blower for cleanup. The cord reel performed as advertised. I had no trouble with retraction even after unspooling the cord to its entire 75' several times. I am, however, keeping my fingers crossed that in the future I won't encoounter the kind of problems that some of your other customers have experienced. So far, so good.
PS. Purchasing over the internet for in-store pickup was a dream."

"I liked my first one so much I bought three more. Two for the garage and one for the shop. I have owned these for three years now and they keep winding up as if they were brand new."

Cord Reel, 12/3, 75',
July 20, 2009
"The most perplexing issue w/ this unit was the extremely difficult mounting process. The unit’s axle was not removable for installation purposes. Given the unit’s weight, installation would have gone much smother if the bracket could have been mounted separately. Additionally, I would prefer the unit to have more cord stop positions."

Gerat extra length retractable cord,
March 16, 2009
By garage24
from New Hampshire
"After searching all the local tool houses and DIY stores I found this item at Northern. The cobmination of the heavy duty features and the length of cord I was looking for made it the best value by far. It has already filled the needs I havd in mind and virtually eliminated several extension cords from daily use. The only issue keeping it from a 5 star rating is a few extra dead spots in the reel causes you to find a new spot for the retraction. Otherwise perfect."

Junk,
August 13, 2008
"I purchased this item to get things off floor. I mounted it on our overhead beam. Drilled holes to mount it real nice. After the first day it would not even retract off the floor. After a week we could not even use it because it failed to produce electric. We tested it and its unrepairable. I will never purchase another one.
absolute junk.

Nice Cord, Terrible Rewind,
April 22, 2008
By GlassWizard
from Mountain Home, Arkansas
"I bought this cord reel to replace a 30' unit that I often found too short to reach the area I was working in. The case is heavy-duty as well as the cord and plug, so that part is fine. The chink in the armour is as others have stated- the rewind mechanism spring is sorely underpowered!! As shipped, if the cord is pulled all the way out then the last ten feet of cord to be retracted has to be tediously hand fed (read PUSHED) back into the reel. I was able to take the unit apart and put four extra winds on the spring to get the unit to retract correctly, but then the spring "bottoms out" with three winds (approx 6') of cord still on the reel. I can live with that for the price. If you don't want to mess with re-engineering the unit like I did, then get a COX reel. Otherwise live with the deficiency for $100 less."

Cord reel,
April 15, 2008
"The quality of this thing is great and the price was reasonable,I can't say enough for how handy it is to have a cord that's always plugged in and all it takes to get it out and put it away is a pull."

"Poor quality material. retracting assembly hardly even works, cord material too stiff, probably part of reason for retractor problem. very disatisfied overal. would not reccomend."
