Drolet Faceplate: Don't forget this!,
March 17, 2009
By kbystrak from Salisbury, MD
"Make sure you add this item to your order because the Drolet insert does not come with any other faceplate!
Be careful, it specifies a minimum size for your opening but not a maximum. We found that after installation the surround kit was wide enough to cover the opening in our hearth, but it was not tall enough. It was 3/4 of an inch too short to cover the opening of the fireplace. We had to make a few modications and add some small metal spacers in order to completely cover the opening in the hearth.
The surround kit is 29 inches tall.
Surround faceplate attaches to stove with one bolt in the center. We chose to attach it to the brick by gluing some very strong magnets to the bricks to hold it in place."

woodstove insert surround panels,

"The surround was a little difficult to install. After the stove is set, you have to try and secure the screws to the stove adapter. it wasn't easy to do. I also had to add a panel, (custom made) because I was an inch shy of covering my fireplace opening. The chrome trim accent is very impressive."

Drolet's Faceplate Kit,
January 14, 2008
By chandler from Vicksburg, MS
"After a couple of high natural gas bills in my "new" (1930) bungalow this fall and winter, I bought a Drolet wood-burning insert from a Northern Tool retail store. I was a little miffed to find that the store didn't carry the required faceplate -and they didn't know it was required- but I went ahead and bought the faceplate online. It only took 3 days for the faceplate to arrive and took about 10 minutes to put together (yes -some assembly required). I believed it was a bit pricey for some black sheet metal with aluminum trim but after I got it together and in place I decided it looked good enough and was so easy to deal with that it is worth the price after all."

Drolet Escape 1400 Faceplate kit,
January 14, 2008
By JoeO from Stewartsville, New Jersey
"I purchased this faceplate when I purchased my Drolet fireplace insert model # DB03120 (Drolet's Escape 1400 model) from Northern Tool. I am not sure why the faceplate does not come woth the stove as I would think more people would need it than not and in those rare instances a delete option could be offered. The kit is contains quite a few pieces and the instructions are comprised of more pictures than words, but if you are careful the asssembly will go well. The faceplate is made of thin stamped steel painted flat back and you need to be careful as it bends easily. The Drolet is a basic stove and as such, the faceplate is not a fancy design however it does have silver trim around it. Once installed I am happy with it's appearance."
