"The first thing I noticed on my new vise was that the little ball for the oil port was broken out. Took about an hour to take the vise apart, re-assemble it, and re-adjust the friction adjustment on the slide.
This is a NON-precision vise. When you clamp a workpiece, it tilts fore & aft, as well as right to left. This makes it extremely difficult to remove a part and re-position it the same way again.
The ways are soft. Mine already have a couple of nicks in them. I have not dropped the vise, nor have I dropped anything on it. The nicks are from clamping the vise.
This vise is too large to use as a paperweight and too small to use as an anchor. It's pretty worthless as a vise, too.
Spend more money and get a decent vise if you want one that works."
