Great bike,

"Before purchasing this bike I did quite a bit of research on electric bikes. Initially I thought I had to spend over a thousand to get a good bike. After deciding to try the E-Z Trailz bike I found that spending the extra money would have been a waste.
I found that Nothern Tool had the best price I could find for the E-Z Mountain Trailz. I ordered the bike and was pleased to find the order tracking included with the interbet order. The bike arrived after about four days.
The bike was delivered in a large cardboard box and upon opening the box, I found that I only had to attach the handle bar, put the seat in place and charge the battery to get started. Of course you can ride the bike while the battery is charging. Checking the bike out, I was suprised at the quality of manufacture.
One of the interesting things about this bike is the "hybid" mode of operation. You have the option of riding it as all electric, electric human hybrid or as a bicycle without power. This is accomplished by a set of switches on the right grip.
I weigh 235 lbs and I found the bike could pull me around in all electric well. While you can go up a moderate grade, when the electric motor starts to "load" you just begin pedalling and you can continue without loading the motor. The bike is very easy to pedal up hill with the motor assist. It takes a little riding but eventually you learn to work with the motor, or if you want to take it easy, press the switch and ride an electric bike. One good change that has been made is the off road moutain bike tires have been replaced by fat road tires that inflate to 60lbs. This makes riding very smooth.
I believe this bike is well suited for suburban or urban commutes although I have been off road with it without problems.
I have found interesting sites online from groups who improve the electric systems for more power and speed. There are also some good videos on You Tube concerning this bike."

My E-ZIP BIKE,
November 17, 2008

"I must say I was impressed the way they shipped my bike they sent it in a timely manner and was very easy to put together. The instuctions they gave me were helpful it only took about 15 minutes to put together and start to charge the battery. I drive my bike to work almost every day it makes it so much easier to ride cause when you get tired you just use the motor to help you out sometimes I let the bike drive me to work.I owned the bike for 4-5 months and have bought 2 more bikes since then .I would recommend the bike to anyone especially for people wo only needto go 5-10 miles,If youneed to go further you would have to do what I did which is buy an extra battery so if you go further you just hit the switch and transfer to the other battery well quess I said enough but would definitly recommend to others"

"I know that if you have not ridden an electric bike, your first thought may be that it does all the work for you and its not like riding a bike without a motor.
Not at all! You will feel exactly like you are riding a bike, and you must pedal, forget about riding it without pedaling.
Now, I hope my review is helpful because I'm on the upper weight range. I weigh 235lbs, I'm overweight by well over 70 lbs. I'm 38 years old. But I'm not completely out of shape, i.e. despite everythign I just told you I could still jog 3 miles, it wouldn't kill me to do it.
My journey is on hilly terrain, and I have to go 15 miles.
I'm heavy, the bikes heavy, no way am I going to pedal it with a dead battery.
My only 'hope' to get to work, is to only use the battery as an aid up steep hills, to let myself completely coast on the down hills for rest, and to do a steady, high rpm pedal in a low gearing on any flats that I may have.
It's very hard on my knees, but that in part is because I need to adjust the seat higher, and not a fault of the bike.
I highly recommend the bike, I use the bike only to assist me going up hills.
With my review you may be disappointed and think the bike is doing no good, but far from that...the steep hills are what make a bike commute to work IMPOSSIBLE for someone out of shape like me, and this bike solves that problem.
I've written 15 miles to work (30 miles round trip) over 20 times now with this bike, thats what I call a success.
All the usual things, though...learn how to adjust your bike, get the seat at the proper height (if you haven't ridden in a while, its a lot higher than you might guess).
I recommend this, its not a motorcycle, its not a scooter, it is really a bike, but that motor boost really comes in handy, its a real help.

Nice Product,

"I have a 7 mile commute to work and have a few steep hills along the way. I'm 44 years old 5' 10", and I weigh 186 pounds and can make the 7 mile treck in 40 minutes. (7 miles each way) quite comfortably. Not having rode a bicycle for decades I thought it would be difficult to pick up a sense of balance again. Was amazed to see it came right back. I'm not sure how far I could go just using the motor but I've taken it out for 15 mile rides a few times and it seems to do quite well with fairly light, steady pedeling. Nice machine. btw, it is an adult, full-sized bicycle with a motor. Assembly was easy and took very little time. Not paying for gasoline offers a sense of freedom."

Six weeks later,

"It`s been six weeks since the box containing the eZip Trailz arrived. It was simple to put together since the necessary tools came with it. I live in a very hilly town and my mountain bike was just too much to get around town with. I live about a mile from work and have ridden the eZip to and from work every day. Some of my daily errands call for making it up some very steep hills. Yes, I have to pedal-assist, but making it to the top is now much quicker and I am not exhausted doing it.
The electronics on the bike are quite sophisticated. The left brake kills the electric motor, so as not to endanger the rider in a sudden situation. The seven speed Shimano gears make it easy to ride on moderate terrain. I have let a number of people ride the bike, and the overwhelming first impression is like a young kid with a shiny new bike. The usual reaction is "I have to get one of these." I even let two of the bike-cops in town give it a ride and they too were excited when they first turned the throttle and took off. To a person everyone was impressed with how much bike you got for the buck!

E-Zip Bike,

"I have had my bike for about a month and a half. I am extremely pleased with it!
I ride it to work nearly every day! I am towards the top end of the weight for this bike, but it takes me where I need to go. NO MORE BUS!!! Unless it rains or I need to do major shopping. I would recomend this bike for anyone needing to get to work or just for fun. The price was better than any others I'd looked at. Equal to bikes costing $1,000 or more! Buy IT!!!! You'll see!!!
Everyone loves it! Maybe I can even loose some weight!!!

Performs as advertised,

"I have had this bike for about a couple weeks and I am quite happy with it, especially considering that all other electric bikes I've seen were over $1000. I live 13.5 miles from work, and it is hilly. I am in decent shape, but on a regular bike, the trip exhausts me, I'm slow due to the hills, and I would need a shower upon getting to work. With the ebike, I still get some exercise, but I can keep my speed on the uphills over 14 or 15 mph and I don't get totally burnt out. I weigh 127 pounds, and the battery lasts 14 miles to work, with me putting in a decent effort - I am helping the motor by pedaling on the uphills enough to get tired, but not so tired that I can't bike home again. I take the battery off and charge it at work. A few times, it does seem like the battery is petering out right at the end, so based on how hilly my commute is (significantly), how much I weigh (127), and how much I'm willing to help the motor by pedaling (a decent amount), 14 or 15 miles is about the limit of the battery. So, in short, this is what I wanted it to do - allow me to ride to work in less than an hour (about 15 mph average), without getting totally exhausted.
My only complaints so far is that the bike is heavy (but then I knew it would be when I ordered), and also I don't find the handlebar grips to be very comfortable. They seem rough (including the shifter on the left) and not very padded. I wouldn't mind if it had one more higher gear - when I'm going downhill and the speed gets much over 20 mph, I can't really add any more speed by pedaling because the highest gear isn't high enough.
So, for the price, as an entry-level electric bike, I'm quite happy with it. It's a win win situation - I save gas, save the planet, get some exercise, and have fun.
