Fairly rated,
August 19, 2008
By Dixsonfrom Fairfield, CA
"As mentioned in most reviews the parts are not numbered. The cardboard box it was shipped in, or what was left of it arrived late. Amazingly all the parts were in what used to be a box. I used 4'x8'x3/4" Exterior Plywood. By it's self the plywood weighs 40 lbs. IF YOU CAN NOT LIFT 130 LBS. OVER YOUR HEAD. USE TWO PEOPLE to "stand" up INTO AND FROM the folded storage position. Casters are cheap and small in diameter. ANY slightly rough surface makes moving it in the folded storage position precarious at best. Again use two people to move. The tongue is only 3 sided and twists VERY easily. If you plan to use a trailer jack/wheel, save your money and buy a trailer with a 4 sided tongue. I had to replace the tongue on mine with 1/8" wall square tube, drill all the holes, etc.... If I did not have the tools to do this myself it could have cost ~$300.00. On a positive note it tows good even with the 12" wheels which are not included."

Folding Trailer,
August 11, 2008
By Salembrewerfrom Salem, NH
"I thought the trailer was well made. Depending on your mechanical ability, the "no labeling" issue on the parts is a non issue. The pieces fit well together and the finish was good to very good in some cases. Some of the ideas I took away from previous reviews worth noting were: make sure to use 3/8 washers with every fastener (I used SS washers on both the head and nut side as to not damage the painted surface) ; use Duplicolor candy apple red for touch up after assembling the pieces to maintain rust protection ; use blue (medium strength) locktite on each of the bolts to reduce loosening up during vibration; use wire looms (3/8") with 1/2 inch loom supports for routing the electrical ; use weather resistant connectors or tape the connectors, provided, to ensure weather tightness. Overall a great value for a trailer and the ease of folding it back up for winter storage is a huge plus in garages or driveways where space is a premium."

GREAT TRAILER,
August 6, 2008
By carolinaflashfrom SNOW CAMP, NC
"THIS TRAILER IN A NUTSHELL IS ONE OF THE BEST THAT I HAVE EVER USED. VERY QUICK TO PUT TOGETHER, EVEN THOW IT DOES NOT HAVE NUMBERED PARTS. I BOLTED EVERTHING TOGETHER THEN WELDED THE FRAME THEN PLACED A SHEET OF STEEL ON TOP. I USED IT TO MOVE A 10'X12' BUILDEN (APPROX WEIGHT OF 2000 LBS +). ONLY THING I DID WAS PLACE 2X4 UNDER FRAME AND AXLE TO KEEP IT FROM HITTING. GET THIS TRAILER, YOU WILL NOT REGREIT IT:"

Light Duty Hauling - This One's for You,
April 24, 2008
By Trailmanfrom Westlake, Ohio (Cleveland)
"An excellent value for a light duty trailer. The trailer kit comes with everything you need to assemble the trailer including well illustrated assembly instructions. The trailer tilts while still attached to the tow vehicle eliminating the need for additional ramps. The trailer folds literally in half and stores in an area little more than two feet from the wall. The quality of the components and the finish are first rate. For the occasional hauling of anything under half a ton nothing compares for quality or price,"

Trailer with no way to roll,
April 21, 2008
By MaryBfrom Phoenix, AZ
"A trailer sold without wheels? Not very smart. This trailer frame type bends easily if hit, even lightly. Had a terrible time with the wiring for the tail lights. Wouldn't keep lit or would work sometimes. Had to replace the wiring a couple of times. Folds easily, but a little hard to roll folded up on any slightly rough surface."

Foldup Utility Trailer,
April 20, 2008
By LesKYfrom Kentucky
"This trailer went together with no problems. All the holes lined up and all the hardware was there. It took me about 5 or 6 hours to put together. Like another reviewer, I'm not much of one to re-check the tightness of the nuts/bolts so I used Loctite on all of them. One complaint would be the clips that hold the wiring in place. Time will tell but I wish those clips had a little more "beef" to them or at least secured using more than friction to hold them in place. I used 4'x8'x3/4" plywood (cut in half) for the decking and I added some eye bolts to the sides of the frame for using tie downs. Within its design limits this is a great little trailer and it folds nicely into the garage... out of the way and we can still park our 2 cars there with room to spare. This trailer is not designed for heavy duty hauling or say going cross country with a full load but for light hauling of building materials, a scoop of top soil or, say, taking my Kubota lawn tractor (about 750 lbs with mowing deck) to the dealer, this trailer is all that I need. If you're going to be using it for heavier loads or for long distance hauling, then I'd get another trailer which is designed for that sort of thing."

Good Quality but some critical design flaws,
March 25, 2008
By 1fishaholicfrom Warren, Rhode Island
"I did not have any problem with registering the trailer. It was still not properly endorsed but my state wasn't as tough on the registration. Pros: Good Value for the quality of trailer. Good paint job. Cons: 1. Carriage bolt to lock down back half of trailer is difficult to access and tighten, making the trailer fold up for storage a difficult and tedious proposition. 2. Location of hinges and the protrusion of the bolt heads for fold up operation reduced useable trailer bed width to a 1/4 to 1/2 inch short of 4 ft. 3. All parts should have been labeled...only two critical parts are labeled."

Not as great a deal as you think,
January 28, 2008
By mikehnfrom Maryland
"First of all, the most annoying thing. My state's DMV requires a properly executed certificate of origin in order to title and tag the trailer. The certificate comes in the box, however, it is not properly executed with Northern Tool's stamp on the front and back. Soooooo, I was not able to get tags for the trailer before spending money to fedex the certificate back to Northern Tool and waiting to get it back. So the $50 bucks I saved over the competition was pretty much lost. If you are in a hurry to get this on the road, you may want to consider something else. I believe there was another post above me that had the same problem."

Good stuff cheep,
January 21, 2008
By Johnnyabcfrom Boston
"I have had this for several years, it is a real work horse, and it was cheep. I used old lumber to make the sides, and keep the bearings greased. it just keeps rolling. I have had it maxed out many times with old furniture and no problem. Always get the larger wheels, they help with pot holes. Plan at least half a day to assemble, you need a large flat area like a driveway. Airtools are a plus."

folding trailer,
January 21, 2008
By Russmanfrom Salisbury, NC
"I purchased this trailer, honestly thinking that it would be a piece of junk. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all parts were of good quality, all the parts were there, and all of the holes lined up! The only bad part was that there was no labeling on the parts to determine front from rear from side parts. The manual had good drawings though and with a little bit of patience, you can determine what is what. I love the folding AND tilting features. I would highly recommend this trailer."

Super Versitile Tool,
January 21, 2008
By HarleyDfrom Virginia
"I own this item and, though it may appear small, it has proven to be both rugged and dependable. I installed a 1/2 inch piece of plywood and inexpensive treated wood rails, making the trailer a versitile unit, aIlowing me to haul lumber, mulch, and items too large to place in my pick-up truck bed. This trailer has become an indispensible addition to my project related tool collection."

Great for a cheap trailer. Paint not so good.,
January 21, 2008
By lflintfrom Williamsport, PAd
"It was fun building the trailer. It was not fun having it registered - the process took me three months here in Pennsylvania so don't be in a hurry to get it it on the road. It was pretty bouncy without a load so I bought a Monroe RV shock kit for it and the kit is awesome! The paint (powdercoat) is not great. I've had it two years and now it needs to be repainted already.
All in all it is a great little utility trailer and you can't beat the price!"

Folding Trailer,
October 30, 2007
By DMOYERfrom sanford, fl
"Great product for the price, you can't find another trailer for near this price. I enjoy this trailer b/c I can fold it up and roll it in the garage (but the plastic casters are kinda cheap). Took several hours to put together, I had to purchase lock washers from local hardware store and used them and lock-tite to keep bolts from vibrating loose( i am not one to check the rig before every ride, so i use lock-tite). Easily fits a single sheet of PT plywood with a small cut down the middle to allow it to fold with the deck still attatched. I haul my motorcycle, riding lawn mower, and trash ever once in a while... again great product for my usage!"

Folding Trailer Kit,
October 29, 2007
By Bookmanfrom Tampa, FL
"The trailer went together easily; the plans were helpful. The only part of the trailer that was disappointing was the small clips designed to hold in place the wiring for the lights. I didn't have confidence in the clips so I wound up snaking the wires through the frame.
The only missing feature I wish the trailer had was some pre-drilled holes along the side rails for the fastening of tie-down rings or cleats. I wound up routing out recesses in the plywood deck to flush-mount tie down rings.
Having the trailer come as a kit has given me a lot of flexibility in terms of how much trailer I wanted. I built stake sides for my trailer. It is convenient to be able to use the trailer with or without sides. With the stake sides in it looks like a giant Radio Flyer wagon.
The folding feature works great. I live in the community where we have to park our vehicles in the garage and we can't have detached structures. I need a truck or a trailer just four or five times a year. Having this trailer fold and stow out of the way is idea for my situation."

Northern Industrial Folding Trailer Kit,
October 29, 2007
By JSMSSSfrom Oxford, CT
"I purchased the Northern Industrial Folding Trailer Kit about a year ago and have used this trailer almost every weekend. I use it to haul construction debris and recycled trash to our town facilities. This trailer is great. It far exceeded my expectations. Its very user friendly and when im done, it easily folds up and I can store it in my shed. It was very easy to assemble, about an (hour), after all the parts where laid out. I added a sheet of 5/8 pressure treated plywood for the floor, cut at the seam to allow for the folding. I havent experienced any prooblems what-so-ever with this trailer and recommend it to all weekend warriors like myself."

Good product,
October 16, 2007
By toolguy26from Morris, OK
"This trailer is good for what it is...a light-weight utility trailer. I bolted mine together in a couple of hours without much difficulty. It pulls like its not even there and no problems with whipping. I use the trailer to haul bulky items and pick up supplies for home improvements. If you want to haul heavy items...say more than several hundred pounds regularly or over long distances DON'T BUY this trailer because it couldn't handle it."

Folding trailer assembly & use,
October 8, 2007
By penmanrogfrom Attica, NY
"This trailer is well worth the money, but realisticly expect to spend a lot more than six hrs. to assemble it. You will also need many different tools as you are working in confined spaces. A 3/8" socket set with an extension is needed & a ratcheting dog bone set is very helpful. A power drill as a driver, & an impact wrench are also real pluses. The parts are packaged in no particular order, but they were all there & the metal parts were of good quality. The instructions require a lot of patience, & some trial & error as they can be very vague. Some of the diagrams are too small-exploded views of some sections would have been real helpful. Not all holes lined up correctly & some drilling (not much) was required. I used it to haul a 800 lb. golf cart about 150 miles. It towed well, & had no problems. A few of the nuts had loosened up-but that needs to be checked anyway. When you fold it up to store it be CAREFUL with the pivoting tow bar, it can come down with great force, causing injury. All & all it's a good buy if you've got the time & tools to assemble it and a reasonable amount of mechanical apptitude. Comperable trailers that come assembled were at least $300 more expensive."
