"I mainly buy those little bundles of wood at the supermartket. I use these for our Nascar weekends. This splitter works great!!! To start it takes a little effort but after that its a piece of cake."

Worth the price,
July 20, 2009
By sodaspider

"I purchased this product last winter. It is great for smaller logs, or for when the logs that are already split, are still too large. To start the log you do need to "put your foot into it" My 8 year old can't start the split but he loves finishing it. The slider piece leaves something to be desired. It gets stuck quite often. Every time I bring it back up I have to kick it back into the log. I suppose it wouldn't do that if I greased it in between every use, but in the middle of winter it was not my top priority. For the cost it is much better than using an axe, it is realitively quick to use, and stores well."

It Really Works,
July 13, 2009

"This is one of the best deals yet. It works exactly as advertised. The foot lever is surprisingly easy to operate. You can really split a lot of wood with this thing. I would recommend them to anyone that would have use for something like this."

Foot-operated log splitter,
July 13, 2009
By tdmtneer
from New Jersey
"This is a good splitter for softer types of wood, however I bent the unit in two places trying to split a 6 inch diameter piece of hard locust. I will only use it for camping and with smaller logs.
I like the idea behind the design, but think it needs to be a little stronger built.

A great alterative to a gas splitter or maul!,
July 13, 2009
By WildBill2500

"This works great in my basement where I don't have much overhead room to swing a maul. This splitter has been able to split most logs, even some up to 12"! The splitting wedge could be a little bigger. Play around with your setup height. I found it worked better with the pedal higher off the ground."

Foot powered log splitter is a big disappointment,
March 17, 2009
By Shout
from Windsor, CT
"I do not know why this product got so many excellent reviews. The splitter did not function as described unless I received a defected one. The engagement teeth on the push rod would not stay engaged when the log started to split. The results were a log with about a one to two inch split that had to be pulled back by hand and turned around to try to split the other end with the same results. The log was about five or six inches in diameter, about 16 inches long and well seasoned. After trying many different size logs I gave up and now have a useless tool. I purchased a 10-ton hand powered log splitter for $40.00 more than I paid for the foot splitter and have split over a cord of wood without any problems and with a lot less work. I suppose if the teeth would have stayed engaged it may have split the log but I will never know. Save your money on this one and buy the 10-ton hand power splitter!"

Splits like a pro,

"This is so easy to setup, Works great with seasoned wood, as long as you avoid the knots. Much safer and cleaner than swinging a hatchet or small maul in the house to get kindling."

"This is the first one of these that I've ever owned to replace the maul and axe. I find that it works beautifully and as advertised. The length of the cut that the wedge makes on each foot stroke is adjustable as is the follower that follows the log down for subsequent cuts made by the wedge. It is important to keep all of the poles and other arms that these things slide on CLEAN or things like the follower won't contine to follw. I mean CLEAN like when you tokk it out of the box. That's what I've been doing and I haven't found anything that it won'y split yet.

Foot powered log splitter,
November 19, 2008
By michdeerhunter
from Michigan
"This little splitter worked great on up to 8" diameter hard wood. Even with knots, this splitter got the job done. I bought it for my 72 year old mother to split smaller logs and kindling. She loves it! I put it together and the whoe family had fun splitting wood. For anyone you dont want to have to swing a sledge and wedge or ax, this is the perfect tool! So easy my 72 year old Mom can do it!"

Works great,

By mikedny

"I bought this because I was worried about having an axe around the kids. This thing works great, put a log in, step a few times and it spits. Works best with seasoned and dried wood. Green wood doesn't split as easily in my experience."
