Small and Mighty........Best Value,
August 15, 2008
By Jellybean

"We needed a transfer pump to remove water from behind a fish pond liner. Northern Tool on-line had just what we were looking for and for a great price. This pump is light-weight yet sturdy, very powerful and FAST in comparison to some submersible pumps I've used in the past. It is self-priming and started pumping water right away. We have used it a few times since to remove water from various locations around the property and it has performed with excellence. I highly recommend the product."

Doesn't Perform as Advertized,
October 19, 2009
By Mainuh
from Coastal Maine
"I bought this pump to fill my solar water heater with glycol/water. It is advertised as pumping over 40 feet of head, and didn't even pump 10 feet. I thoroughly read all reviews and figured this was the best pump for the money, but was very disappointed and had to replace it with another pump that I bought locally.
If you are only transferring fluid and don't have to pump very high then this is the pump for you, otherwise don't waste your time or money."

Transfer pump,
July 20, 2009
By loh1251

"Second style of pump that I have used. First one had to be primed each time used and was a pain. This one self primes and does a great job. I use it to empty a dry well in the yard when ground moisture gets high. Very easy to use and does a great job of moving water."

Portable Transfer Pump — 115 Volt, 5/8in,
July 20, 2009
By Save31

"I purchased this portable 115 Volt, 5/8in tranfer pump from Norhtern Tool a few years back to move drainage water. In wet conditions I was moving over 1000 gallons a day without fail. Not only was the pump a good price, it also comes with a replacement brush and pump kit so I expect to have it running for many years. The higher pitch noise when it runs is a good cue that I know it is working."

Bad Application,

"Used in a WVO filter system. Pump would not prime, struggled to keep flow. Destroyed two impellers in about a month. Probably a bad application for the pump."

Fast and Furious Pumping in Short Bursts,
November 17, 2008
By super72bug
from SE Pennsylvania
"This little pump will surprise you. It really moves a lot of liquid FAST! When you turn it on make sure you have a hold of the discharge hose because this little guy moves some serious GPH.
I like it because it is compact, light weight and easy to store. The pump is repairable and some spare parts are included with the initial purchase.
Note: This pump is not designed to run continuously. The motor is designed to get hot. There is a thermal protection circuit that will turn the pump off when it exceeds the max operating temperature. It is designed to run in short bursts and then cool down."

Portable transfer pump,
November 17, 2008
By DavidC
from Hanover VA
"This is a good little pump for limited duty projects.
It's easy to burn up the impeller if used to lift water more than a few feet. Lubrication of the impeller between uses is imperative. Cost of replacement impeller nears the cost of the pump.
Works very well when used on smaller projects within it's capabilities.

Fails As Utility Pump,
September 26, 2008
By JAMES7tj2l1
from EDMONDS, WA
"THE PUMP DOES NOT "SELF PRIME". It started to pump after being force primed with a pressurized water hose. Once started, THE PUMP DOES NOT maintain it's prime when it's raising plain cold water higher than about 26 inches."
