1 in NorthStar Water Pump,
October 29, 2007
By GoldDigger
from Wyoming
"I recently purchased this pump to use in backcounty prospecting. It is very light weight which makes it easy to carry, in fact the suction hose and discharge hose are a bigger load. The Mitsubishi engine has never failed to start on the first or second pull and and uses very little gas and believe me that's important when you have packed it a few miles to where you hope to strike it rich. The pump provides all the water I need for running my prospecting equipment. I would recommend this pump to anyone needing a light weight reliable pump."

lightweight, reliable pump,
November 6, 2009
By Adaptive
from Wisconsin
"We have this pump mounted on a UTV skid unit used for prescribed burning and tree watering. Output is adequate for wetlining and mop-up, but this pump really doesn't provide the knock-down power for use as a serious fire-suppression resource. That said, at full throttle it can drain our 100-gal tank in only a few minutes.
PROS:
Lightweight, easy to start, 2-stroke engine not affected by changes in slope
Small footprint on skid unit
Seems to be fuel efficient
CONS:
not enough PSI to knock down a fire.
noisy
The pump performs well given its size and horsepower. We have two."

"Easy to start and run. Additional 1" hose section needed for suction line. Don't expect to water your lawn with significant water volume or pressure. The motor is adequate for short runs of less than 150' and about a 10-15' rise. Anything longer/higher than that, you will need more HP."

Something about this little baby makes me brag,
June 15, 2009
By Carlito
from McKenzie Bridge, OR
"When we burn our burn piles (last two were approximately 12' long by 8' wide by 9+' high--one burn pile per week), we have 300' of 5/8" garden hose connected to a hose bib by our well pump strung out to reach the burn pile--this hose puts out a decent flow of water. We also have a 55 gallon plastic drum/barrel filled with water, which acts as a safety/control back up water supply--the NorthStar Water Pump sits on top of the barrel, with the 1" inlet hose and filter inserted into one of the barrels "plugs" and the 1" outlet hoses "at the ready." The pump starter rope is easy to pull because of the low engine displacement--and, so far, the pump has fired right up! (Remember to make sure it is primed, which is a minor task). But, the amazing thing is, this easy-starting little baby can really put out the water for its small, light size!!; I estimate four times the output--minimum--of the garden hose. We adhere to strict fire regulations, so--when we want to put our burn pile fire 'dead out' before nightfall--we fire up the NorthStar (which more than augments the flow from the garden hose) to quickly douse the embers. "This little baby" saves me a lot of time (not to mention the confidence knowing our burn pile is 'dead out')! P.S.-We also intend on using the pump for the forest (tree) planting on our outer acreage."

What a Pump,

"I purchased this pump with just the hope of watering some new grass seed I planted this spring buy pulling water from a pond about 300ft away from the lawn. It has far exceeded it's expectations. I hooked several 5/8 water hoses together with a splitter at the end and ran two sprinklers with decent results. I finally got tired of moving the hose and decided to get a 1" poly pipe to put on the pump to get the water to the lawn. Excellent results with the poly pipe!!! Performance was so good I buried the 1' poly line for a main feeder line with 2 rows of 4 sprinklers haning off it. I figured I could run 4 at a time and water my whole front yard. Was I surprised. I was easlily able to run all 8 Orbit Voyager II sprinkler heads at the same time with the furtherst one about 300ft from the pump. Even with all the sprinklers on I am still get about a 35ft stream from each sprinkler. Pump runs for about an hour on one tank of gas. This pump packs a punch for it's size."

Works well,

"Pumping from a stream to two 300 gal holding tanks. One foot suction head at five feet with a screened foot valve via 3/4 reinforced hosing. Pumping 400 ft with a forty foot rise via 5/8" garden hose. Pump is easy to start and prime, appears well made. 35 seconds from initial starting to first water discharge appearance. Fills tanks in 90 minutes at approx. 3/4 of full rpm and uses two tanks of 50:1 mix. Tank is small, guessing a pint or so. I would recommend this unit for any similar usage."

Skid Load,
January 3, 2009
By LT3714
from Pittsburgh area, PA
"We purchased this little pump to make a small firefighting skid unit for a new squad that we recently purchased, to give enhanced capability to the piece of equipment. We were more than skeptical at first, to say the least. The whole station was extremely suprised when we finally finished construction and fired it up for it's first test (in April,08). with 100' of econoflo 5/8" brush hose, we were able to get approximately 40-45PSI discharge and dump the 55 gallon tank in under 7 minutes (a good feat for a < 1hp engine). With two lines (or having the recirc open) we can still attain 25psi out of it. This skid was regularly called to handle jobs that were bigger than its intended use and completed the task admirably, with no problems developing in the pump. I definately would reccomend it to anyone."

"I use this pump for irrigating a 30 tree orchard. The small works well on fuel consumption and portability. It is easy to work with and economical. It's use with regular garden hose attachments is a plus also."
