High torque in a small package,

"I decided to go the gerotor route for my son's mini-dozer because I wanted to keep the drive train as simple and efficient as possible. The wide selection of speeds, gpm, and torque allowed me to choose the optimum combination to drive the tracks.
I was limited in horsepower so I was forced to select a pump to power these motors that was too small to exploit the full speed range capability. I'm using a pair of 4-way motoring spool valves to control speed and direction of the motors. Since I chose a three position detent valve with output ports blocked in neutral, the motor is effectively locked in neutral and no other braking system is required.
The motors start gradually and smoothly, run at variable rpm, and provide enough torque to "spin" both tracks simultaneously. I have never had a single problem with either drive motor through two different engines and many happy hours of "work" for my son."
